Description

This file contains letters and proposals for the use of various sporting facilities for Triathlon events and training grounds. The venues are all located in South East Queensland and include Lake Samsonvale, Southbank, Fisherman Island, Schultz’s Canal, the Gold Coast and others.

Included are letters discussing proposed venues for purchase, which would give a permanent location for a triathlon training facility.

Of specific interest is a document titled ‘Inquiry information paper on the redevelopment of the Tallebudgera outdoor recreation center project’, which outlines the costs, timeline and details for submissions of interest in the project from members of the public. It appears that interested parties could submit information on how the redevelopment works could be directed.

Dr Hunt used these documents in her research for the book Multisport dreaming: The foundations of triathlon in Australia published in 2014.
