Abstract

[Extract]: There is a smorgasbord of career opportunities out there for young journalists who see their roles as information gatherers and processors. There are many journalisms: community journalism, corporate journalism, agency journalism, niche publishing and broadcasting, social research and government journalism, to name a few. And then there is mainstream metropolitan journalism, which is itself undergoing rapid change. Our challenge is to equip our graduates with the skills and understandings to work in any of these fields, to become truly multimedia.
