RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS

Gail’s recently submitted PhD researches the use of information and communications technology (ICT) in higher education, incorporating a collective case study of six teachers, all early adopters of ICT, who used ICT to facilitate their use of blended learning approaches to their on-campus teaching. The research contributes to new knowledge and understanding of blended learning through its identification of the dimensions of the blended learning environments created by these teachers. This research also examined institutional models for professional development for faculty for the e-environment, and the relationship between theories of learning and popular professional development approaches such as action learning projects, reflective practice and the use and encouragement of learning communities to support the professional learning of teachers. Her most recent publications have built on her thesis research and focused on the use of digital resources as representations of practice to promote professional learning of faculty in the workplace.
