The Chinese culture mandala prescribes that, wherever possible, authority ought to be respected and order maintained even though it requires some moral or intellectual justifications interms of the Mandate of Heaven or civil service examinations. Scholars have long argued that the problematique of Confucius' political philosophy is how to preserve authority at times of political and intellectual chaos and disorder.
