This is the first part of a two-part article discussing arguments for and against the introduction of a mediation Act for New Zealand. Part 1 looks at the objectives of mediation legislation, examples from other jurisdictions, what mediation legislation already exists in New Zealand and the context of and trends in mediation in New Zealand.
